When my son was six months old, my husband’s aunt gifted us a pair of Babiators. While we giggled at how cute our baby looked in his cool new shades, she looked at us seriously and said, "Protect his eyes now, and make sure he wears those sunglasses all the time. It’s something parents don’t really think about at such a young age."

She was right. I’ve never heard any of my parent friends talk about eye health, beyond Vitamin K shots and the drops babies’ eyes receive soon after birth. So, thank goodness for Auntie for teaching us about eye health by giving us our first Babiators.

Babiators are the best kids’ sunglasses by far, in my opinion. That’s for a few reasons. First, they have great sun protection, with UV400 lenses that protect your kiddos eye areas from 100% of harmful UVA/UVB rays. The polarized ones make it easier for your littles to see by reducing glare from sun, water, sand, snow and ice. Whether we’re playing in the snow, sunning ourselves by the sea, or even just enjoying a normal sunny SoCal day, our Babiators have been our constant picnic pals.

Second, the company will replace lost or damaged sunglasses within the first year after purchase. Third, they’re nearly indestructible — impact-resistant, shatter-resistant lenses and bendable rubber frames that can be stepped on, thrown in suitcases and backpacks, and even run over by wagons and motorized toy cars (ahem...that may have happened in my front yard). Of course, they’re BPA free.

What’s awesome is that Babiators just launched UV performance wear (UPF 50+ shirts and shorts) in time for summer, and the apparel and hats run the gamut from sizes 6 months to 6 years. Our son has had a sunburn before and remembers how much he hated the pain, but he’s also sunblock-adverse and only allows grumpy swipes across his neck and face, so UPF shirts are vital for us.

These UPF clothes are well ventilated — they don't feel as stuffy as some of the other ones we've bought, thanks to breathable fabric and mesh underarms — and they are high-quality and appealingly adorable. We find that our son can wear most of the colors and be pretty gender neutral (we haven't gotten him the pink yet, but he can rock a pink!). There are quick-dry, water-friendly hats, too.

We’re very psyched that Babiators has joined the UV performance wear arena, and are looking forward to years of ordering their sun apparel. When it comes to sun protection, we’re willing to buy the best.
